We
would like to introduce ourselves: We are Jim and Jan Hodges from
Oregon. Our home is filled with love and our hearts
are filled with gratitude for the gift of life that God has so
graciously given us. We are working diligently to make our days count
as Christian individuals, as we continue to learn and grow, working
out our salvation daily and walking in a manner pleasing to the Lord.
We are empty nesters semi-retired and are enjoying our home in the
country. We live in beautiful Central Oregon in the high desert,
where the skies are clear, the folks are friendly and where prayer
is part of the natural landscape.
Both my husband and I are animal lovers. We have enjoyed animals all
our lives and are especially appreciative of the canine group, both
wild and domestic. Wolves have a dramatic history and it's amazing
to see that heritage lived out in even the companion group of Coton
de Tulear and Havanese dogs. The hierarchy, the mock kill, the great
affection among pack members, deep love of pups born among the pack,
brutal challenges and sense of play are
all indications of a legacy that should never be forgotten. In
addition to our small dogs, we have a beautiful pair of Akitas (Neko
and Tika) who feel their job is to be the "Watchers in the Woods".
They guard our home and tolerate the little buzz-abouts with great
tolerance. If you watch Neko and Tika closely you will see the
expressions they exchange as if to say, "whatever these little guys
are, they will NEVER be Akitas!" It's interesting to have Akitas, who
look and behave much more like their wolf ancestors (also having a
strong prey drive) in addition to small dogs, who at first glance seem
much more distant until you observe them very carefully. Close
observation of all our dogs through the years has blessed us with
insight and better understanding of ourselves and our place in
creation.

Jim and I both have artistic bents which we celebrate in several
ways: Jim does creative works in stained glass, wood working, metal
works, landscape and interior home design while I (Jan) work in
various art forms including watercolor, oil, graphite, doll and
covered journal design as well as primitive and old country painted
signs. I also love to work with Jim in landscape and garden design.
We both derive great pleasure in making decorative or useful objects
out of discarded resources. ©
We're a good team.
