Pixie-Bobs
The Legend Lives On...
The Pacific Northwest is home to many visual gifts including the towering Cascade Mountain Range and the ruggedly beautiful Pacific coastline. There are hundreds of miles of heavily timbered woodlands, waterways, tributaries, rain forests, wilderness and high desert landscapes. These regions are rich with wildlife including deer, elk, antelope, bear, coyotes, cougar, lynx and bobcat, among many others. The legend begins with an elusive creature of great stealth freely roaming in these areas – the Bobcat.
A young woman by the name of Carol Ann Brewer had a passionate interest in the unusual, stocky built, often bob-tailed cats with wild appearance, that were occasionally being found in remote regions of the Northwest, namely Washington, where she lived. The first three cats that Carol acquired were found in the Pacific Northwest in remote barns or near outlying homesteads. All three had distinct Bobcat-like appearance but no proof of Bobcat genes when they were DNA tested. When two of these early cats bred there was born a lovely female kitten in that litter –a haunting, unforgettable beauty she named, “Pixie”. The Pixie-Bob breed has transpired from this cat – a vision to the eye and balm to the human spirit. What an unusual creature Pixie was to capture the attention, love and commitment she inspired!
Similar cats found in these areas in the years following, Carol called, “Legend Cats” – cats of unknown origin, very unusual with mysterious and unexplained wild traits, always reminding Carol of the Northwest Bobcats. It could be possible that bobcats were and still are breeding with feral and domestic cats or even something we’ve not yet found. Many of these cats had unmistakable traits of wildness even though the DNA tests proved negative for wild ancestry. Thus the shroud of mystery covered the emerging legend of the Pixie-Bob, named appropriately after Carol’s beloved Pixie girl.
The journey of the Pixie-Bob breed, from their early days in 1985, to the present brings us to deliberate conclusions:
· The foundation cats and continuing found wild Legend cats have emerged as indigenous cats found in the Pacific Northwest.
· Pixie-Bobs are a domestic breed now registered with TICA and ACFA.
· These cats bear resemblance to the Bobcat in their stocky construction and often perfectly articulated bobtails, with similar structure, looks and behaviors.
·
The Pixie-Bob cats have unexplained and unusual traits
(including the unmistakable Ocilla on the backs of their ears only found in wild or
early generation wild hybrid cats), as well as unique temperaments and vocalizations.
These are the facts. This is why the legend lives on…
If you are a free spirit and love animals – if you crave adventure and have a flair for the extraordinary, if you love the remote places of the earth and the creatures who inhabit such places, maybe a Pixie-Bob kitten would be that special bit of grace to give you a comforting and homey sense of place.

Dixie Pixie's Absolut Bob - "Bobby"

Bobby is the absolute sweetest intact male we've ever met. He loves other cats, redefines easy going and doesn't seem to let anything bother him. Winter finds him resting on his favorite ledge in the cattery and fair weather calls him out into the sunshine. Bobby is heavy boned, thick, plush, coat of muted spots and pattern. His head and neck are huge, giving him a great presence. This boy is an experienced stud and very sweet with the ladies even if they're extremely hormonal. Our vet says, "this is the kind of cat I like to see used for breeding." Good stuff... old Dixie Pixie, Stone Island lines. (Bobby is from the last litter produced at Dixie Pixie Cattery).
Introducing:
Daze O Grace's White Moon Rising
"Muraco"

Muraco is a non-standard color called a snow or lynx point. Born pure white; shades of gray begin to show up within the first few days. The pointed variety is rare as well as exquisite among the Pixie Bob breed. This boy has a very dramatic face and is taking after his dad with an extremely sweet disposition. This promising, young, exhibition male is well built (7.5 pounds at 5 months), self assured, very affectionate and a joy to raise. Muraco is a beautiful example of the snow/lynx point variant of the Pixie Bob. It is an honor to have all our cats from the old lines of Stone Island, Dixie Pixie, and Native Dream.

Native Dream's "Lacey" Buckshot

We call Lacey "in charge Marge". She is a girl that knows what she wants and when she wants it. She comes to her name on a dead run like a dog, follows us everywhere, loves deeply, and is a great mom. If Lacey sees a "strange animal" on the deck or while she's outside in the enclosure she will hit the glass door or fence on a catapulting body slam! I was shocked the first time I saw her spring into action. Stay out of the way...this girl is comin' through! She is built boxy, very stout with the most amazing bobcat coat I've ever seen. She is well named as her coat looks like a spattering of buckshot lace. We value this Native Dream queen and love her dearly.
Native Dream's Fancy - "Manoki"

This vision of loveliness is large and very heavily boned. Her coat is thick and plush with the spotting in soft shades of gray. She is a snuggle bug, gentle yet not afraid to put other animals in their place. Our Fancy girl is very outgoing, curious and LOVES to play. This young lady is also the rare snow lynx point and looks ethereal... absolutely exquisite. We are honored to have such an unusual Native Dream girl in our program with the old Stone Island, Dixie Pixie lines in her background. We look forward to her kittens in the near future.
Native Dream's Foxy Cat - "Talutah"

This red fox is a beauty to behold and bears good resemblance to her dad, Stone Island Red Fox Seattle Cat. She is gentle, sweet, and extremely well built with great boning. We call her "Tali" (Talutah meaning red in Sioux) and feel that she has so much to offer in our program. Hooded green eyes, beautiful face, plush deep coat ...we are so honored to have her. This Stone Island Red Fox granddaughter is a stunning queen, extremely well bred and comes from Native Dream.
Stone Island Forever - "Zyanya"

Zyan is our youngest girl... sweet, busy and keeps only a couple steps ahead of me. This potential queen is developing beautifully right before our eyes. It's hard to keep up with the constant changes in our growing girl. This Stone Island princess has found a solace in our dog, Jake; he is her true haven. Our dog loving girl comes unglued when a feather toy is brought out...no desire to share, she is riveted to attention and doesn't stop...move aside and give this girl some room! Zyan has a stellar pedigree with old Dixie Pixie lines behind her with Red Fox for a grandfather. We love this sprite and expect some good things from her in our breeding program.
SPECIAL NOTE: One of the advantages of working with the original old Northwest lines from Stone Island and Dixie Pixie is that all our cats not only trace back to Pixie, but the number of generations back are very few. It shows in the looks of these irreplaceable, marvelous old lines.

KITTEN
ADOPTION
If you are interested in adopting one of our kittens, the process is quite simple. We require you to fill out a two page questionnaire that we'll send you via email, at your request. You can fill it out and email it back to us and after we look it over we'll contact you. If you would like to be on a reservation list we require a $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your place for a kitten. If after the kittens are born there is not a kitten to your satisfaction, you can either be refunded for your deposit or wait until another litter is produced for your kitten. If no kitten is produced by the second litter to your satisfaction, you will be refunded your deposit.
CLARIFYING OUR INTENTIONS AS BREEDERS
We do not sell breeding cats or kittens to other breeders, nor do we place kittens by second parties. We only place kittens to approved pet homes that are actually going to keep the kitten. We don't show our cats, although some of them are finished champions and we're very proud of their accomplishments before we acquired them. Our goal is to produce stunning kittens from stunning adults that exceed your expectations. We have chosen rather to concentrate on producing healthy, well socialized, gorgeous pets for the discerning cat fancier. After raising dogs for years I have a short attention span for animal politics. All kittens will be altered prior to leaving Daze O Grace. Kittens come with a health guarantee, up to date on vaccines and worming, vet checked and in good health. Our kittens are sold with a contract agreement and may not be resold, given away, or surrendered to any kind of rescue or humane society. We function as our own rescue and require that any cat we place that is unable to be kept shall be returned to us without refund of any monies. We further require that should a kitten or cat develop a life threatening genetic disorder within the first two years of it's life that we should be notified by the adoptive family and sent a veterinarian's diagnosis report. (We may require a second vet opinion). In such a case the kitten or cat will either be replaced or you will receive compensation for the purchase price of the animal.
TIME LINE FOR PLACING KITTENS
Kittens stay in our home until they are emotionally ready to be adopted which is usually between 12-14 weeks old. Taking a kitten too early can easily affect them adversely for their entire life. So, it's best to be patient and get the best developed kitten, giving it all the advantages you can.
SHIPPING
We do ship kittens by the time they are 13-14 weeks old in the continental USA. We highly prefer to have you come and pick up in person but if that is impossible, we can certainly ship. The approximate cost usually runs about $250-300. This includes the airfare, shipping crate and the airline health certificate from our vet. All shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer, arrangements being made by the breeder.

Breed founder, Carol Ann Brewer, sharing a snack with a
very special Pixie Bob.
Much is said about all the politics involved in the development of a cat breed and the Pixie-Bobs are no exception. However, I am deeply touched with the absolute love Carol Brewer has for the Pixie-Bob cats and kittens that share her life. Carol is the Pixie-Bob breed founder and whether they are hers or someone else's she loves these precious souls, one and all, and when one of them comes into her view her entire countenance softens and it always brings a smile. They are the light of her life. Thank you, Carol Ann, for your immense contribution to our world!
Note of Thanks and Appreciation
My special thanks to Carol Ann Brewer and Mary Gilbert for taking me under their wing and closely mentoring me as I begin to experience this wonderful dream of the Pixie Bob world. Special thanks as well for entrusting your valued lines with me, a mere beginner.
Thank you girls for being such dear and trusted friends and mentors.
